Paper Bottles
Sustainability sits at the heart of Mother of Pearl’s philosophy. Our considered packaging approach includes both traditional glass bottles and Frugalpac’s innovative paper bottles made from 94% recycled paperboard, fully recyclable, five times lighter than glass.
With a carbon footprint up to six times lower using less energy to produce and transport and dispose of than glass equivalents. Paper bottles offer a disruptive and revolutionary alternative to glass, weighing just 710g (filled) they have a food grade recyclable pouch inside.
Introduced to our portfolio in 2023, the paper bottle immediately appealed for both its environmental credentials and the new possibilities it creates for where our spirits can be enjoyed. Mother of Pearl is proud to be the first Australian brand to package spirits and now wines in this format.
Premium and sustainable are not opposing ideas. We believe in using the right format in the right environment. Glass and paper bottles each play a distinct role, chosen with intention. Today, luxury is defined by consistency, purpose, and thoughtful design not materials alone.
The paper bottle also enables full 360-degree branding, allowing greater creative expression beyond traditional labels while maintaining a refined, premium aesthetic.
Recycling Your Paper Bottle: Easy, Fun & Satisfying!
Recycling your paper bottle couldn’t be simpler or more fun! Check out the video to see just how easy it is. Once you’ve broken it down, pop it into your local council curb side bin or take it to a nearby drop-off recycling centre.
Mindful disposal = happy planet!
We even did a little experiment: how many broken-down paper bottles can you fit into an empty wine carton? That’s right a carton that originally held 6 glass bottles easily swallowed 18 paper bottles! That’s a 3:1 bottle-to-carton ratio. Talk about efficiency!
